YW in Excellence

A couple of weeks ago, we had our Young Women in Excellence program and I personally think it came out AMAZING!!!

When planning this event, we thought long and hard about what the best topic or basis would be to  plan our party. After bringing a ton of ideas to the table, we all agreed that "Defenders of Truth" would be perfect.

Now I don't know about you, but the first thing that came to my mind when I said Defender was a medieval theme. Like a castle and decrees and things of that nature. So that is exactly the direction we headed. Unfortunately we did not have any awards to give out this time around. We have such a small group of youth and are still trying to get them on track with the Personal Progress program, but even if it is only for a few or even one it should be amazing and awesome for them! I am a strong believer in the fact that a small group needs just as much effort, love and dedication from their leaders as a huge group. Even if it is only for one!

Anywho! Off that soap box...

Here are the invitations that we made up...

In all honesty, they made a bigger "statement" being put on Facebook than being handed out to the Young Women. I don't know that they actually make it into parents hands by paper form?! Who knows, I might be completely wrong. But I posted the image on Facebook for the cute factor in our YW Group.

Here is the Agenda for the evening that I edited so you could fill in the blanks and use if you wanted to. Although you may need to add in the actual award part...

Our Special Musical Number by the Young Women was "We'll bring the World His Truth"

We also handed out this to all the Young Women which looked similar to the presentation of Armor (I got the image from Susan Fitch's website, I really love her artwork!)

Here is the different parts that each YW spoke about as we put on the Armor...

And last but not least, here are some pictures of our decorations...

I hope this might be of use to you and your ward. Enjoy!! :)

New Beginnings 2015

So, I guess this is better late than never!

Back in February we had our New Beginnings for the Young Women. Our theme was but of course related to our yearly theme "Embark in the Service of God"

I searched online quite a bit and didn't find exactly what I wanted, so I created my own.

Here is a sample of what our itinerary looked like
And these are the name badges we created....

Here is the skit that I wrote with one of our other amazing leaders. It came out so cute! Please note we do not have a very large Young Women's program and so we decided that the skit would have our two Laurels as the main characters and we used adults for the "supporting roles" but it could be easily adapted.

And here are a few of the decorations...

Some of our decorations will make a little more sense once you read the skit. \
The girls had a lot of fun and I feel it went really well!
Our Bishop got into his role as the "Captain" and delivered a wonderful message as well.
We also gave each of the Young Women an anchor bracelet which I have loved to see them wear throughout the year.
I really hope this can help inspire you with your upcoming activities!

Until next time! :)

To A New Beginning

Well hello everyone!

I started this blog sooo very long ago and never touched it again! How sad is that! But I am sure I am not the only person in the world who has ever done that! But, I figured with a new year here and I just received a new calling at church not too long ago to serve in the Young Women's organization, I would give it another shot.

So let me begin by saying I was so sad to leave Primary (calling at church, teaching children under the age of 12) and wasn't sure how to feel about being in Young Womens as I didn't know how fast I could adapt to it and if my whole heart would be there. But I am happy to report that I am LOVING it! Still miss Primary and they will always have a special place in my heart, but I love how crafty I can be in Young Womens. Which is the true reason I decided I should give this blog another chance. I am creating tons of handouts and cute ideas that I should take a moment and share! I know some of these wonderful blogs have saved me quite a bit of time in the past and hopefully by sharing my ideas and handouts it will in turn save you some time too!

So I guess I should begin by sharing one of the last items I created for Primary, which was the binder covers I put together. I know it is a little on the late side as the new year has already begun, but who knows, maybe someone is still looking for something. They are not the most in depth ones I have ever made but still oh so cute in my opinion. I utilized an image from Susan Fitch which if you haven't looked at her blog and are in Primary she has some of the cutest images. After I made these binder covers up, she came out with her own as well that are really adorable too.

I left open space on the spines so you can add a text box and put the class names or teacher names if you would like. I really hope you enjoy!!
